Everett Newell

Everett has been involved in the energetic arts since 1978. His practice of these arts began with Hapkido a Korean martial art that led him to one of his most revered teachers Grand Master Bong Soo Han with whom he studied and had a close relationship for more than 20 years. He has explored a wide variety of traditions including Taoism, Kundalini Yoga, Laya yoga, Hatha yoga, Swara yoga, Tantra and Anusara Yoga®.

Everett met his current teacher Yogarupa, Rod Styrker in 2001. It is Yogarupa that Everett credits with illuminating the union of all of these teachings into one cohesive discipline, Sri Vidya. The tantric tradition of Sri Vidya is a vast sea of yogic knowledge and ageless tradition that divinely weaves the many disciplines of yoga into an understandable, easily digestable and useable form. Sri Vidya is quite simply a science of the human condition. Everett has dedicated himself to its study and his teacher Yogarupa and is now considered one of Yogarupa’s senior teachers.

Yogarupa teaches this ancient tradition through his own brand of yoga known as Pure Yoga® a unique approach to this timeless tradition which utilizes wise progression of postural sequences, and energetic development to deliver us the experience of self remembrance. As we uncover the nature of our being, we can then understand how to guide it conciosuly toward the achievement of our desires.

Everett is cofounder of Divine Motion Yoga Los angeles which was twice voted “Best Los Angeles Yoga Studio” via an audience poll on City Search.com. He and his wife Tracee relocated to Northern California to share their understanding of yoga in 2005. They opened their first studio in the North State in Dunsmuir, Ca and have expanded into southern Oregon with Divine Motion Yoga in Klamath Falls. Everett and Tracee enjoy sharing within the communities of their current studio locations as well as maintaining a schedule of international workshops and retreats

Everett is certified to share these teachings of yoga with everyone including those seeking accredited hours of study to become teachers themselves.
